Portraits of Longing
The starting point for these paintings are either found photographs or photos I’ve taken of friends. The origins of the images are less important to me than the sentiment they convey. I look for a structure to build on as a way of giving form to something intangible like an emotion and I'm interested in that mysterious spark that makes us human.
I often work on found material – old newspaper, music score or cardboard. The history of an object brings associations that add to the narrative of each image.
