Portraits of Longing

The starting point for these paintings are either found photographs or photos I’ve taken of friends. The origins of the images are less important to me than the sentiment they convey. I look for an external structure to build upon as a way of giving form to something intangible like an emotion.

I often work on found material – old newspaper, music score or cardboard. The history of an object brings associations that add to the narrative of each image.
